The Situation
A new healthcare education venture needed to be built from the ground up, with no existing programs, partnerships, or revenue base to draw on.
The Opportunity
Healthcare systems and universities shared a common need: a credible partner able to design and scale workforce-aligned, non-Title IV certificate and non-degree programs quickly and at quality.
Ranil's Role
Founding executive, accountable for the venture from initial strategy through go-to-market and scale.
Work Performed
- Defined the market entry strategy, target partner profile, and program portfolio approach
- Built the founding team and go-to-market model from scratch
- Built certificate and non-degree program portfolios with leading universities, including Harvard, Emory, MIT, Columbia, Wharton, Johns Hopkins, and the National University of Singapore
- Built one of the highest revenue-generating certificate programs for both Harvard and Emory
- Recruited up to 50% of enrollment from outside the United States for select certificate programs, diversifying both revenue and geographic reach
- Built the commercial, operating, and delivery infrastructure required to scale
Results
The business reached a $27 million run rate in under two years, anchored by some of the highest revenue-generating certificate programs at partner universities including Harvard and Emory, with select programs drawing up to half their enrollment from outside the United States.
